We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Drivetrain Design Engineer with 5+ years of expertise in the design and development of drivetrain systems for heavy-duty machinery or off-highway vehicles. In this role, you will be responsible for designing components such as transmissions, axles, final drives, and torque converters, ensuring optimal performance, durability, and manufacturability.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including simulation, validation, manufacturing, and supply chain to take drivetrain concepts from initial design through to production and field support

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop drivetrain systems including transmissions, axles, differentials, final drives, and torque converters.
  • Conduct system- and component-level analysis for durability, performance, and efficiency.
  • Execute design calculations and performance analysis related to gear trains, load paths, and bearing selection.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-ups, DFMEA, and contribute to DVP&R planning.
  • Interface with validation teams for bench and vehicle-level testing of drivetrain assemblies.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing engineers to ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness of designs.
  • Ensure compliance with performance, emissions, and regulatory standards.
  • Support field investigations, root cause analysis, and design revisions as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and new technologies in drivetrain systems.

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in gear design, bearings, lubrication, castings, and rotating components.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo preferred), GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Solid understanding of drivetrain system integration and mechanical dynamics.

Education/Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in drivetrain or powertrain component design.
