Job Description

Position Summary

A Systems Engineer is responsible for delivering first class service, advice and technical support to ACT clients, through the highest standards of customer service, efficiency, knowledge and integrity. This includes proactive management of client technology, resolving high priority escalations and contributing standards and procedures to the global technical community. Systems Engineers serve as an escalation point for junior and mid-level technicians and augment deliverables for technology managers. The candidate will interface with high profile Health/financial industry clients daily thus requiring the highest level of presentation, communication, and professionalism.

Position Requirements

  • College diploma or University degree in the field of Computer Science or equivalent field and/or related experience with 4-6 years of end user support
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills
  • Motivated to pursue technical certifications and further education
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, in a fast-paced team environment
  • Sharp attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective time management in working on internal tasks as well as with external vendors
  • Displays fundamental leadership skills when working with junior-level employees
  • Able to design, lead and execute project plans approved by technology and project management
  • Capable of assembling and coordinating a small team to execute short-term goals and operations
  • Can interpret customer needs and translate to technical deliverables
  • After hours support and on-call rotation required

 

Technical Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft 365/Entra (Azure)/Intune
  • Advanced understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing, Switching and Firewalls
  • Ability to design, coordinate and deploy networking solutions
  • Advanced experience with Hardware Infrastructure (Servers and Storage, SAN/NAS storage, RAID, iSCSI, DFS, NFS, FTP/SFTP)
  • Deployment and troubleshooting of operating systems and applications
  • Microsoft Windows 10,11, Microsoft Office 2010-2019/O365, Microsoft Server 2008R2-2022
  • Android/iOS configuration, troubleshooting and integration with MDM solutions
  • Advanced experience with public cloud technologies with an emphasis on Office 365
  • Experience with cyber-security concepts (Multi-Factor Authentication, Anti-virus/Anti-malware, Software Firewall, Web Filtering)
  • Advanced experience with hardware troubleshooting (desktop/laptop, printer, mobile device, network peripheral)
  • Ability to perform patching and maintenance of systems
  • Experience with backup configuration and data recovery
  • Ability to maintain and operate network management and troubleshooting applications (patch management, SNMP utilities, monitoring solutions)
  • Advanced knowledge of e-mail and spam troubleshooting
  • Administering Active Directory Users/Exchange mailboxes
  • Experience with cross-platform data and mail migrations.
  • Experience with third-party vendor management and collaboration on proprietary systems deployments
  • Experience with virtualization software such as VMWare vSphere, Hyper-V, or Proxmox
  • Understanding of IaaS, VDI and SaaS
  • Understanding of network troubleshooting (switching and routing, security ACL)
  • Advanced understanding of DNS concepts (name servers, public zones, record syntax, registrar management)

 

Preferred Skills

  • Health Care industry experience
  • Experience with Managed Service Providers
  • Interest in continuous professional development with a focus on leadership
  • Basic understanding of high-level infrastructure design
  • Ability to identify infrastructure flaws and promote business opportunities
  • Technical certifications preferred

 

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in an independent environment with moderate supervision
  • Ability to work under a moderate noise level (i.e. working on an open floor with printers, telephones, and computers)
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines (including late nights and weekends)
  • After hours on-call rotation.
  • Ability to travel for business and work beyond normal business hours when necessary
  • Ability to be flexible and successfully respond to multiple work pressures
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals
