Job Description

Our client, a national provider of engineering, procurement, and construction management is looking for an experienced Substation Physical Engineer - Richmond, VA

The engineer in this role will be accountable for creating and reviewing general arrangements, equipment plans, elevations, sections, control house layouts, grounding design, conduit and cable design, bills of material, and cable schedules. They must ensure that their project work is of satisfactory quality and adheres to project timelines. 

In this role you will: 

• Collaborate with Project Leads to review, prepare, or validate deliverables for assigned projects
• Liaise with client representatives to clarify project requirements, submit and respond to inquiries, specify equipment, and other communications as necessary to finalize the project design package
• Contribute to the development of design package deliverables, such as general arrangements, equipment plans, elevations, sections, control house layouts, grounding design, conduit and cable design, bills of material, and cable schedules, as needed
• Prioritize and schedule multiple tasks to meet project deadlines
• Assist less experienced team members in organizing and scheduling work activities to meet project timelines
• Ensure the physical design components of the design packages for all projects are complete, precise, and meet high quality standards
• Evaluate project designs for potential issues and recommend solutions that align with industry, client, and internal standards
• Provide prompt responses to field inquiries on completed engineering projects to facilitate successful execution in the field
• Travel occasionally for short periods of time, as required by projects and assignments
• Perform other duties as necessary.

To be considered you must have: 

• Prof Engineering (PE)
• BS in Engineering or higher
• Minimum 6 years Substation experience
