Our client in Smyrna is hiring for a Tax Manager to oversee tax compliance and reporting for a Real Estate Investment Trust. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing federal, state, and local tax filings, ensuring compliance with REIT-specific regulations, and managing audits. The Tax Manager will work closely with the Senior Tax Director and external advisors to optimize the REIT’s tax position while maintaining its tax-qualified status. This role requires strong technical tax knowledge, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for the REIT and its subsidiaries.
• Ensure compliance with REIT-specific tax rules, including income and asset tests and distribution requirements.
• Oversee tax provisions under ASC 740 and work closely with finance teams for accurate financial reporting.
• Conduct tax research, manage audits, and implement tax optimization strategies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 8 years of tax preparation and analysis experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as ASC 740 financial reporting standards.
• Preferred experience in real estate, property management, and proficiency in Alteryx, Sage, and Yardi.
