NOTE: We have Two (2) Plant Manager roles in the greater Hartford, CT area (two different sites) that we are looking to fill.
Plant Manager (Precision Manufacturing) Overview We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of a high-performance precision manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating production, technical, and support functions to ensure operational excellence, cost efficiency, and consistent delivery of high-quality products. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in precision manufacturing environments, with a strong background in aerospace and defense, and thrives in a fast-paced, quality-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment for all employees and visitors
- Lead overall plant operations, including production, engineering, maintenance, quality, and materials
- Establish and implement plant-level policies aligned with organizational objectives
- Drive achievement of revenue, profitability, and operational performance targets, including full P&L responsibility
- Plan, organize, and prioritize production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements
- Oversee workforce planning, including capacity analysis and labor forecasting
- Lead, coach, and develop cross-functional teams including managers and supervisors
- Execute capital investment projects, including evaluation and implementation of equipment and technology
- Promote and sustain a culture of continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement to optimize material flow and equipment utilization
- Improve throughput and operational efficiency using proven methodologies such as Theory of Constraints
- Ensure adherence to strict quality standards, including regulated industry requirements
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and operational protocols
Leadership & Management Responsibilities
- Directly supervise leaders across operations and supporting functions, including production, maintenance, engineering, materials, and quality
- Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle including hiring, training, performance management, and employee relations
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous development
- Resolve employee issues and operational challenges effectively and professionally
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (MBA preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in precision manufacturing, with strong exposure to aerospace and defense environments
- At least 5 years of leadership experience managing teams in a manufacturing setting
- Deep understanding of machining, metalworking, and tight-tolerance production environments
- Working knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems and other applicable aerospace/defense regulatory standards
- Strong understanding of production operations, capacity planning, and manufacturing systems
- Demonstrated financial acumen with experience managing budgets and interpreting P&L statements
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification (Black Belt preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements
