Position Title

Material Planner – Manufacturing Environment

Position Summary

The Material Planner supports manufacturing operations by managing material flow, inventory accuracy, and supply chain coordination. This role focuses on analyzing demand signals, maintaining ERP data integrity, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring materials are available to support production schedules and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and apply data to identify, resolve, and prevent material planning and logistics issues.
  • Review customer demand releases and ensure accurate data flow between internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
  • Maintain daily ERP system transactions, including data entry and ongoing system accuracy.
  • Analyze production schedules, inventory levels, and work orders to determine material requirements and priorities.
  • Coordinate with production teams to identify shortages, overdue materials, and potential supply risks.
  • Support cross‑functional alignment to improve internal material movement, reduce waste, and promote operational efficiency.
  • Verify incoming materials by confirming quantities, part numbers, and identifying discrepancies or damage.
  • Prepare routine reporting on supplier delivery performance and customer delivery metrics.
  • Communicate with suppliers, customers, and logistics providers to support accurate and timely shipments.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation and support customs processes when applicable.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts and assist with investigation and resolution of inventory discrepancies.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support plant operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in material planning, logistics, supply chain, or a related manufacturing role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment; commercial vehicle or similar industrial experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000–based quality systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret production and inventory data.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hands‑on experience using an ERP system (SAP or comparable platform).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions.
  • Ability to walk manufacturing areas frequently, perform material audits/counts, lift up to 25 lbs regularly, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
