Position: Product Engineer – Commercial Vehicle Systems
About the Role
Join an innovative engineering team within a leading supplier in the commercial vehicle segment. You’ll play a critical role in the full life cycle of product development—from concept through industrialization to customer integration. You will work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure high-performance, ergonomic, and cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical definition of new seating systems and related components for commercial vehicles, aligning customer requirements with internal design capability.
Evaluate process feasibility, manufacturing constraints, and cost targets to propose optimized product concepts.
Manage technical convergence plans to meet quality, cost, and timing goals throughout development.
Collaborate with external suppliers, particularly for purchased parts, to ensure integration into our systems.
Coordinate with tool and fixture partners, guiding tool design, process validation, and prototype builds.
Develop and maintain design documentation, including CAD models, engineering bill of materials (BOM), and change history.
Create and execute test and validation plans (DVP), interpret test data, and respond to deviations.
Facilitate design reviews, risk analyses (e.g., DFMEA), and cross-disciplinary meetings.
Support industrialization by building control plans and working with prototype specialists.
Interface with customer engineering teams, securing their agreement on design milestones and signoffs.
Monitor and implement corrective actions, improvements, and cost-reduction opportunities post-launch.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by participating in value analysis (VA/VE) workshops.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Several years of experience in product development, preferably in commercial vehicle seating, interior systems, or similar.
Strong CAD skills (e.g., 3D modeling), and experience with GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerancing).
Proficiency in quality-assurance and launch processes: APQP, PFMEA, MSA, PPAP, SPC.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, stamping, or metal forming.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and project-management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including tier suppliers and customers.
Self-motivated, collaborative, and capable of driving decisions in a fast-paced development environment.
What You’ll Gain
Opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge commercial vehicle seat systems used in trucks, buses, and off-road vehicles.
Exposure to cross-functional development processes and close collaboration with suppliers and customers.
A career path in a global company devoted to innovation, ergonomics, and sustainable mobility.
Comprehensive benefits, professional development support, and a culture that values ownership and teamwork.
