
Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Tupelo, MS
Overview
A leading global manufacturer of automotive interior components and seating systems for commercial and off-road vehicles is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its team in Tupelo, MS. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and contribute to process improvements and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Kaizen methodologies.
- Review process controls and develop cell layouts, reduce setup times (SMED), and improve productivity through waste reduction.
- Support product cost targets, efficiency improvements, and identify potential production issues.
- Participate in planning for capital needs, launch strategies, project timing, and process flows.
- Define labor and machine standards and propose changes to equipment, molds, and tooling for reliability and compatibility.
- Oversee project timelines and implementation of process/product changes.
- Validate project risks and ensure compliance with quality standards, deadlines, and customer requirements.
- Manage product lifecycle activities, documentation, and customer approvals.
- Organize ramp-up phases, equipment industrialization, and resource planning for pre-serial production.
- Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate tasks between engineering, quality, logistics, and production.
- Conduct meetings with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to align strategies and resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with audit and industry standards (IATF, VDA).
- Review mold and fixture designs, optimize workflows, and implement process improvements.
- Develop tooling strategies, error-proofing methods, and assist with technical and production training.
- Support APQP, PPAP, and ISO/TS16949 requirements for project launches.
Deliverables
- Meet cost and timing objectives for assigned projects.
- Ensure compliance with PPAP and ISO/TS16949 standards.
- Maintain records for primary tools and selected secondary equipment.
- Provide program status reports and corrective action plans.
- Drive continuous improvement programs and maintain strong customer relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Project management and SAP workflow experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and AutoCAD.
- Automotive industry background preferred.
- Experience with product launches and injection molding required.
- Familiarity with robotics (Fanuc) is essential.
