Senior/Lead Piping Engineer – EPC Projects Industrial

About the Role

An industrial services organization is hiring a Senior/Lead Piping Engineer to lead piping design and execution across complex Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects. This role is focused on large-scale facilities in the metals and minerals sector, including smelters, refineries, and processing plants. The position requires deep technical expertise, cross-functional coordination, and client-facing leadership.


Core Responsibilities

  • Direct all phases of piping design and layout, from FEED through commissioning.
  • Develop and oversee 3D models, piping layouts, isometrics, and material specifications.
  • Conduct and review stress analysis and flexibility studies in accordance with global standards.
  • Approve technical documentation including MTOs, requisitions, and vendor submittals.
  • Coordinate with structural, mechanical, process, and procurement teams.
  • Provide on-site technical support during construction, hydrotesting, and commissioning.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE, quality, and constructability standards.

Required Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Piping Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in piping engineering, with at least 8 years in EPC projects for heavy industrial or metals/mining sectors.
  • Proficiency in software such as PDMS, SP3D, CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of international piping codes (ASME, ANSI, API, ISO).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management capabilities.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based with extended computer use.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs), walking, and bending.
  • Site visits may involve exposure to construction environments and require PPE.
