Job Description

Our client, a global manufacturer of advanced electronics for the industrial, military, and aerospace/defense sectors seeks a Design Engineering Leader for their greater Kansas City site.  This is an onsite role.  

This role leads and advances power electronics product development, including aerospace-related projects. This person oversees design teams, manages complex technical initiatives with long-term business impact, and integrates innovative technologies into product solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for design reviews, modifications, and improvements.

• Develop and implement quality management strategies for early-stage design integration.

• Drive technology integration and identify opportunities for advancement in focused technical areas.

• Collaborate across disciplines—Mechanical, Electrical, Operations, and Manufacturing—to ensure cohesive project execution.

• Evaluate complex technical issues and implement effective solutions using logical analysis and sound engineering judgment.

• Guide and evaluate team performance to ensure continuous improvement and project success.

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

• 5+ years of relevant design and engineering experience in aerospace/defense.

• Proven experience managing engineering teams.

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Deep knowledge of sustainable design and advanced engineering methodologies.

• Must be a U.S. person as defined under ITAR (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

• Travel: 0–10%.
