Manufacturing Engineer – Lima Area, OH
Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in the Lima, OH area. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and have the opportunity to drive lasting and positive changes in our operations.
Role Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical support for all aspects of production from design release forward. This role will focus on engineering activities related to injection molding, drilling operations, heat staking, welding, and assembly line operations, with the goal of achieving optimum productivity and quality levels while meeting customer requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Own and support assigned manufacturing processes.
Review process controls and emphasize continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives.
Participate in the development of cell layouts, setup reduction (SMED), lead-time reduction, and waste elimination.
Support achieving product target costs, efficiency improvements, and problem-solving for existing production processes.
Contribute to project capital planning, launch strategies, timing, and process flows.
Collaborate on changes to processes, equipment, molds, and tooling to ensure reliability and compatibility with established systems.
Key Duties
Support and maintain project timelines.
Participate in resolving open issues.
Review mold and fixture designs, providing recommendations for improvements.
Develop workflow optimization, layouts, and process enhancements.
Implement process/product improvements and develop error-proofing (poka-yoke) methods.
Assist in technical and production team training on processing standards.
Contribute to short- and long-term strategies to meet customer requirements.
Authorize engineering change notices, process alerts, purchase orders, and training requests.
Support plant safety rules, procedures, and operational standards.
Engage in APQP, PPAP, and ISO/TS16949 compliance activities.
Deliverables
Achieve project goals related to cost, quality, and timing.
Meet expectations for PPAP, ISO/TS16949, and related compliance requirements.
Provide program status reports, including key performance indicators and corrective action updates.
Maintain documentation for molds and key secondary equipment.
Prioritize resources to support project and operational needs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with customer and plant objectives.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar engineering role.
Background in commercial vehicle, automotive, or closely related manufacturing industries.
Experience with new product launches.
Hands-on experience with injection molding and robotics is required.
