Collections Manager

Location: Queens, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us:

We are a well-established organization seeking a dedicated and skilled Collections Manager to lead our collections team and ensure effective recovery of overdue accounts. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in collections support, negotiation, and team leadership, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of collection agents to achieve performance targets.
  • Oversee the collection process, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations governing credit and collections.
  • Identify, organize, and prioritize accounts based on the severity of delinquency.
  • Contact customers with overdue payments and establish feasible repayment plans.
  • Handle the repossession process, including evaluating repossession orders when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all customer interactions and their outcomes.
  • Prepare payoff letters upon customer request.
  • Utilize appropriate collection techniques based on account status and delinquency level.
  • Locate customers through skip-tracing methods when necessary.
  • Analyze customer financial information to determine suitable collection strategies.
  • Accurately apply payments to accounts and make necessary adjustments or corrections.
  • Develop and implement effective collection strategies to optimize recovery rates.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of Recovery/Post Charge-Off Collections experience.
  • Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
    • Effective multitasking abilities for managing multiple cases simultaneously.
    • Basic data entry and typing proficiency.
    • Proficient in Excel and basic accounting principles.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Required).
    • Ability to work independently and maintain outstanding attendance.
  • Education: A college degree is a plus.
