323 Recruitment is searching for experienced Excavator Operators and Civil All-Rounders to join an established civil construction company delivering a strong pipeline of work throughout Hawke's Bay.

Our client is a respected, New Zealand-owned contractor involved in civil construction, earthworks, drainage and major infrastructure projects.

We're looking for reliable, experienced operators who know how to get the job done properly, take pride in their gear and aren't afraid to jump out of the cab and lend a hand when needed.

What you'll be doing

• Operating excavators across a range of civil and earthworks activities.
• Completing bulk and detailed excavation, trenching, backfilling and site preparation.
• Assisting with drainage, pipe laying, subdivisions and general infrastructure works.
• Operating other machinery and equipment where trained and competent.
• Working safely around existing services, personnel and construction plant.
• Carrying out daily pre-start checks and basic equipment maintenance.
• Working with foremen and supervisors to maintain productivity and quality.
• Jumping out of the machine and helping the crew when required.

What we're looking for

• Proven experience operating excavators in civil construction or earthworks.
• Experience in drainage trenching, bulk earthworks or detailed excavation.
• Ability to work efficiently and safely around underground services.
• Good understanding of site levels, grades and construction plans.
• Full licence Class 1, WTR. Beneficial Class 2
• GPS or machine-control experience would be an advantage.
• Experience operating other machinery would be beneficial.
• A strong safety mindset and respect for plant and equipment.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work well with others.
• Most importantly, we're after genuine civil operators who know their trade and have the right attitude.

You don't need to be able to operate every machine under the sun, but versatility, a willingness to learn and a good work ethic will go a long way.
