Job Description

Health & Safety Coordinator

We’re partnering with a well-established residential construction company with a strong reputation for delivering quality homes and developments across New Zealand. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a proactive and detail-focused Health & Safety Coordinator to support their Health & Safety Manager and wider site teams.

This role would suit someone who enjoys the administrative and compliance side of Health & Safety, while still being confident engaging with subcontractors and site teams.

About the Role

As Health & Safety Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant and well-managed workplace across a busy residential construction environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing subcontractor Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs) to ensure they are suitable for the scope and risk of work

  • Identifying gaps or missing controls in safety documentation and following up with subcontractors

  • Maintaining accurate H&S records, registers, reports and compliance documentation

  • Supporting subcontractor pre-qualification and contractor management processes

  • Assisting with site inspections, audits, corrective actions and incident reporting

  • Coordinating inductions, toolbox talks, training records and safety communications

  • Supporting emergency preparedness, site handovers, PPE, signage and noticeboards

  • Helping improve safety systems, processes and documentation across the business

About You

We’re looking for someone who is organised, calm under pressure and confident working with both office and site-based teams.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety Coordinator or similar role (at least 2 years)

  • Construction industry experience, ideally within residential construction

  • Experience reviewing SSSPs and contractor safety documentation

  • Strong understanding of risk management and H&S compliance

  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy

  • Confidence communicating with subcontractors, site teams and managers

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and confidence using digital safety systems

  • Full New Zealand driver’s licence

  • H&S certification preferred

  • Current First Aid Certificate preferred

What’s on Offer

  • Salary of $80,000–$90,000 depending on experience

  • Permanent, full-time opportunity

  • Join a respected residential construction business with a strong project pipeline

  • Varied role across compliance, administration, site support and contractor management

  • Supportive team environment with regular interaction across office and site teams

  • Company fleet available for work-related travel

If you’re a detail-driven Health & Safety professional who enjoys keeping systems, documentation and site compliance running smoothly, we’d love to hear from you.
