As a Finance Business Partner, you'll act as a trusted advisor to operational leaders and the wider business, providing commercial insights that drive better decisions and improve project performance.
You'll take ownership of forecasting, reporting and financial controls across multiple projects and business units, while helping identify risks, improve margins and support strategic growth initiatives.
You'll also play a key role in the company's exciting data architecture transformation
Leading budgeting, forecasting and monthly financial reporting processes
Producing Power BI reporting and providing insights on project performance, work in hand and forecast revenue and expenditure
Partnering with Project Managers and Operations Managers to provide commercial advice and challenge assumptions
Supporting monthly board reporting and strategic decision-making
Reviewing cost-to-complete forecasts and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
Collaborating with tendering and delivery teams to ensure projects are set up for success
Overseeing and mentoring the Project Accountant to ensure accurate claims, budgets, variations and subcontractor payments
Forecasting labour, plant and material costs while monitoring asset utilisation
Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and asset registers
Driving reporting improvements, automation initiatives and systems enhancements
Working closely with the CFO, finance team and operational leaders to deliver improved business performance
CA qualified or working towards CA ANZ designation
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
4+ years' experience in management accounting, project accounting or finance business partnering
Experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering or project-based environments
Strong commercial acumen and the confidence to challenge the numbers
Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems and reporting tools
A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for systems and process enhancement
Willingness to travel between Auckland, Tauranga and Hamilton as required
Experience with Power BI and data modelling
Experience mentoring or leading others
Knowledge of Jobpac or similar project accounting systems
