This is an opportunity for an experienced Civil Construction Area Supervisor or hands-on Project Manager to join a well-established Auckland-based civil construction contractor specialising in retaining, piling, groundworks, and wider civil construction projects.
Based across Manukau, East & South Auckland, and wider Auckland project sites, this is a key leadership role for someone who knows how to run work on the ground, lead foremen and crews, manage multiple live sites, and keep projects moving safely, commercially, and efficiently.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the action not stuck behind a desk. You will be the link between senior management, clients, subcontractors, foremen, and site teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
For the right person, this role offers genuine progression into broader Project Manager-level responsibility, with the opportunity to take ownership of multiple projects and play a key part in the continued growth of the business.
Manage and coordinate construction activities across multiple civil construction sites.
Lead and support foremen, site crews, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Ensure work is completed in line with drawings, specifications, programmes, client requirements, and company standards.
Monitor project progress, budgets, labour, plant, materials, and timelines.
Manage site resources to maximise productivity and reduce delays or waste.
Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks.
Maintain strong health and safety standards across all sites, including toolbox meetings, risk assessments, JSAs, SSSPs, permits, inductions, incident reporting, and corrective actions.
Liaise with clients, engineers, consultants, councils, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal management.
Identify and resolve site issues quickly and professionally.
Support strong communication between site teams and senior management.
Maintain accurate records, reports, timesheets, supplier invoices, and project documentation.
Drive a positive site culture based on safety, accountability, quality, and getting the job done right.
We are looking for someone with strong civil construction experience who is confident leading teams, managing multiple sites, and taking ownership of project outcomes.
You may currently be working as an Area Supervisor, Senior Site Supervisor, Site Manager, Civil Project Manager, Construction Supervisor, or Senior Foreman ready to step up.
The ideal candidate will bring:
Strong experience in civil construction, ideally across retaining, piling, groundworks, drainage, structures, or similar works.
Proven ability to manage multiple sites, crews, or subcontractors at one time.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, support, and hold teams accountable.
Good commercial understanding, including labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, invoices, quantities, and project costs.
Strong health and safety knowledge.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
Excellent communication skills with clients, crews, subcontractors, and management.
Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving ability.
A practical, hands-on approach.
Good written reporting and record-keeping skills.
Current New Zealand driver’s licence.
Experience working in the New Zealand civil construction industry.
Experience in piling and retaining works.
Tier 2 or Tier 3 civil contractor background.
Civil / Construction Trade background.
Class 2 licence.
WTR endorsements.
F endorsement.
Plant operating experience.
Relevant civil construction, construction management, or project management qualifications.
Competitive salary package.
Company Vehicle.
Phone and laptop.
Long-term opportunity with an established Auckland civil construction contractor.
Hands-on leadership role with real influence over site delivery.
Opportunity to manage multiple projects and step further into Project Manager-level responsibility.
Supportive team environment with strong operational backing.
Ongoing career development for the right person.
This is a role for someone who wants ownership, responsibility, and variety.
You will not be sitting in an office watching projects from a distance. You will be out on site, leading teams, solving problems, managing resources, working with clients, and helping deliver quality civil construction projects across Auckland.
If you are a practical civil construction leader who takes pride in doing the job properly, keeping people safe, and building strong teams, this could be the right next move.
