Project Engineer – Civil & 3 Waters

323 Recruitment is proud to be working on behalf of a leading Civil and 3 Waters contractor based in Auckland. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, our client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their team in a full-time role based in Waitakere / West Auckland.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable Project Engineer to play a key role in the successful delivery of civil infrastructure and 3 Waters projects, while working with a respected company known for quality delivery, strong client relationships, and a practical, solutions-focused approach.

About the Role

As Project Engineer, you will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of civil and 3 Waters projects across the Auckland region. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and project engineering oversight across civil and 3 Waters projects

• Assist with project planning, programming, procurement, and construction coordination

• Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients

• Conduct site inspections, monitor progress, and help resolve technical or construction-related issues

• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, specifications, drawings, QA records, and technical submissions

• Support the preparation of bids, tenders, and project proposals where required

• Ensure works are completed in line with relevant standards, specifications, health and safety requirements, and project expectations

• Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering systems, processes, and best practice

• Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, technicians, and site-based team members

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• A degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Project Engineer role within the civil infrastructure, structural, or 3 Waters sector

• Strong experience in project planning, coordination, and delivery

• Solid technical knowledge of civil construction and 3 Waters infrastructure

• Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant design and project tools

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients

• Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality outcomes

• A practical understanding of relevant New Zealand standards, council requirements, and health and safety obligations

• A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach to project delivery
