Civil Foreman – Civil & 3 Waters
323 Recruitment is proud to be working on behalf of a leading Civil and 3 Waters contractor based in Auckland. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, our client is seeking an experienced Civil Foreman to join their team in a full-time role based in Waitakere / West Auckland.
This is a great opportunity for a practical, hands-on Foreman to lead site crews across civil infrastructure and 3 Waters projects. You will play a key role in coordinating daily site activities, supporting the Supervisor and Project Manager, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
About the Role
As Civil Foreman, you will be responsible for leading crews on site and helping drive the successful delivery of civil construction, drainage, water reticulation, utilities, and general infrastructure works. You will work closely with supervisors, engineers, operators, labourers, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure day-to-day site operations run smoothly.
This role would suit an experienced Foreman, Leading Hand, or senior civil tradesperson/operator who has strong site knowledge, good leadership skills, and a background in drainage, water reticulation, earthworks, roading, or utilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily site activities across civil and 3 Waters projects
- Supervise operators, labourers, subcontractors, and site-based teams
- Assist with planning labour, plant, materials, and equipment requirements
- Read and interpret drawings, plans, levels, and project specifications
- Oversee drainage, water reticulation, trenching, earthworks, reinstatement, and general civil works
- Ensure site works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standard
- Support the Supervisor and Project Manager with programme delivery and daily planning
- Identify and report site issues, hazards, delays, and construction challenges
- Liaise with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives
- Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries, toolbox talks, QA checks, and progress updates
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, environmental, quality, and client requirements
- Mentor and support crew members to maintain productivity, workmanship, and strong site culture
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Civil Foreman, Leading Hand, Senior Operator, or experienced civil construction team leader
- Strong background in civil infrastructure, drainage, 3 Waters, earthworks, roading, utilities, or reinstatement works
- Experience leading crews and coordinating day-to-day site activities
- Practical understanding of civil construction methods, plant, materials, and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, plans, levels, and specifications
- Strong health and safety awareness and commitment to safe site practices
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with crews, supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors
- Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to make practical decisions on site
- Reliable, organised, and willing to be hands-on when required
- A valid driver’s licence
- Drainage tickets and/or water reticulation qualifications would be highly advantageous
- Relevant Site Safe, First Aid, WTR, confined space, STMS, or other civil construction tickets would also be beneficial
