About the Role:
As Project Supervisor, you will oversee day-to-day site operations across civil projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification. You’ll coordinate crews, subcontractors, and resources, acting as the key link between the site and project management. Your leadership will directly influence project quality, productivity, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily civil construction activities on site, ensuring work is completed in line with plans, specifications, and project programmes.
- Coordinate site crews, subcontractors, plant, and materials to meet milestones and productivity targets.
- Monitor and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards, leading by example and addressing issues promptly.
- Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and progress reviews, escalating risks or delays to the Project Manager as needed.
- Interpret drawings and set out work in collaboration with engineers and surveyors.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, timesheets, deliveries, and variations.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders to resolve site issues and maintain strong working relationships.
- Support and mentor site staff, fostering a positive, high-performance culture on site.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in civil construction supervision or leading hand/foreman role, ideally on roading, drainage, earthworks, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies, sequencing, and site logistics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate crews in a fast-paced site environment.
- Solid knowledge of health and safety legislation and practical application on construction sites.
- Competence in reading and interpreting civil drawings and specifications.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to influence, direct, and resolve issues on site.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and adapt to changing site conditions.
- Full NZ driver’s licence and eligibility to work in New Zealand.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working in three waters projects essential
- Familiarity with digital site tools (e.g. tablets, site reporting software, or basic project management systems).
- Previous exposure to quality assurance processes and documentation in civil construction.
- Experience supervising subcontractors and managing small packages of work independently.
Qualifications:
- Trade qualification or relevant tertiary certificate/diploma in civil construction, construction management, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Site Safety or Site Supervisor certification (e.g. Site Safe, ConstructSafe, or equivalent) preferred.
- Current first aid certificate advantageous.
