We’re partnering with a well-established civil engineering consultancy delivering high-quality land development and infrastructure projects across New Zealand.

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer to take a lead role in the delivery of technically complex projects while mentoring engineers and working closely with clients and councils.

This is an opportunity to move beyond “just design” and step into a role with real technical ownership, leadership responsibility, and influence over project outcomes.

About the Role

In this role, you’ll provide senior technical input across a range of stormwater and three waters projects, from early concept through to construction support.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading stormwater design for land development and infrastructure projects
• Owning technical scope, budgets, risks and delivery programmes
• Preparing and reviewing stormwater modelling, reports and design outputs
• Coordinating with planners, surveyors, civil engineers and contractors
• Liaising with councils, CCOs and regulators to secure approvals
• Mentoring intermediate and graduate engineers
• Supporting project delivery and contributing to business growth

About You

You’ll ideally bring:

• 7+ years’ experience in stormwater / three waters engineering (indicative)
• Strong hands-on design capability (Civil 3D, 12D, MUSIC, HEC-RAS, etc.)
• Experience delivering projects through council approval processes
• Solid understanding of NZ stormwater standards and guidelines
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A collaborative mindset with confidence leading technical discussions
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• CPEng preferred or working toward
