Estimator – Civil Construction 

About the role

We’re looking for a Civil Estimator to join a busy and growing civil construction business delivering projects across the Waikato. This role is primarily focused on pre-contract estimating, supporting tender submissions across three waters, drainage, earthworks and civil infrastructure projects.

Outside of tender periods, there will be opportunities to get involved in running smaller projects, giving you exposure to project delivery, site coordination, and commercial outcomes. This is ideal for an estimator who wants variety and long-term career growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions

• Analyse drawings, specifications and contract documentation

• Build up rates for labour, plant, materials and subcontractors

• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing

• Identify risks, opportunities and value-engineering options

• Assist with tender strategy and handover to project teams

• Support delivery of smaller projects when required

• Maintain estimating databases and pricing tools

What we’re looking for

• Estimating experience in civil construction (three waters preferred)

• Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies and costs

• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications

• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills

• Confident communicator who works well with site and office teams

• Strong IT skills (Excel essential, estimating software a bonus)

• Engineering, QS or civil background beneficial but not essential
