We're partnering with a leading New Zealand infrastructure and civil construction business with a strong reputation for delivering complex projects and investing in its people. With a healthy pipeline of work and a collaborative culture, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Accountant to join their growing finance team based in Auckland.
This is far more than a traditional accounting role. You'll act as a true business partner, working closely with Project Managers and operational leaders to provide commercial insights, improve project performance, and ensure financial integrity across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, you'll be at the centre of project delivery, providing financial leadership throughout the lifecycle of major projects. You'll play a key role in forecasting, cost reporting, progress claims, commercial analysis and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and efficiencies.
Partner with Project Managers and operational teams to provide financial and commercial support.
Manage project forecasting, cost reporting and earned value analysis.
Oversee progress claims, revenue recognition and project cashflow.
Monitor project margins and identify risks and opportunities.
Improve reporting processes and leverage systems to drive efficiency.
Support procurement strategies and subcontractor financial management.
Provide meaningful insights that influence project and business performance.
You will bring:
5+ years' experience in project, management or financial accounting.
Exposure to construction, infrastructure, engineering or contracting environments.
Strong commercial acumen and an ability to challenge and influence stakeholders.
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across financial systems.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent communication skills.
A desire to work closely with operations and contribute to business success.
