Our client is a well-established commercial construction business delivering award-winning projects across education, healthcare, industrial, retail and community sectors.
With a strong pipeline of work ahead, they are seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to join their pre-construction team.

Based primarily in Hamilton (with flexibility to work out of the Tauranga branch), this is a strategic role where you’ll lead major tenders and estimates, shape commercial strategy and work closely with senior leadership to secure and deliver successful projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead cost planning and tendering for complex commercial construction projects

• Review design documentation, drawings, and specifications to develop accurate estimates

• Coordinate subcontractor pricing, procurement strategies and competitive tenders

• Prepare BOQs, cost plans, risk analyses and detailed estimate summaries

• Provide strategic input into bids and client proposals

• Collaborate with pre-construction, design, and project delivery teams to ensure buildability and cost efficiency

• Mentor and support junior estimators, providing leadership and technical guidance

• Contribute to continuous improvement across estimating processes and procedures

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years’ experience as an Estimator in the commercial construction sector

• Proven background estimating medium to large-scale projects ($5M – $50M+)

• Expertise in cost planning, risk analysis, value engineering and procurement strategies

• Strong knowledge of NZ construction contracts, standards and industry practices

• Proficiency with estimating software 

• Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills

• Leadership experience and ability to mentor junior team members

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar
