Job Description

Eligible candidates should possess an understanding of current market conditions, have national and regional asset-based contacts, and have an excellent understanding of the multiple load boards available to book trucks and assign freight. Experience with AS 400 and Microsoft Office is helpful.

Primary Responsibilities:
· Identify transportation balance needs to keep fleets moving profitably.
· Manage multiple customer shipments simultaneously.
· Utilize online load boards to acquire head hauls and back hauls at good rates.
· Schedule all aspects of pick up/delivery with shipper, consignee, and carrier.
· Effectively track shipment status through various methods (phone, online, e-mail, EDI to TMS, etc).
· Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and profitability.

Job Requirements:
· At least 1-3 years of operational experience in a freight brokerage business.
· Ability to develop the carrier base, negotiate rates, validate carrier safety and compliance, dispatch
shipments, and provide shipment tracking services to customers.
· Knowledge of major traffic lanes and competitive carrier rates.
· Prior use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel spreadsheets and Word.
· Highly organized and able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and excel at handling multiple tasks
simultaneously.
· Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
· Strong communication skills with a positive and engaging personality.
· College degree preferred, but not required, especially in Supply Chain Management or Business Management.
