Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Cargo Claims Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and resolving cargo claims efficiently and effectively while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and a strong background in cargo claims management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and process cargo claims in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
- Collect and analyze documentation and evidence to support claim resolution.- Communicate with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and provide updates on claim status.
- Negotiate settlements with claimants and insurance companies.- Maintain accurate records of claims and settlements.
- Prepare reports and summaries of claims activities.
- Provide recommendations for improving claims processes and reducing future claims.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to cargo claims.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Entering new claim filings into the Claims Management System
- Update accounts receivable and payment information on claim records.
- Manage calls and emails made to the Cargo Claims department.
- Generate and monitor claims reports in Excel format as needed.
- Manage intake of completed parcel claims and process payments accordingly.
- Troubleshoot inquiries and help route communications to the correct claims associate and/or department.
- Document independent business owner/agent or carrier interactions, inquiries, complaints, and details of carrier research as well as any actions taken in the internal proprietary operating system.
- Obtain and examine all relevant information to assess the validity of complaints and to determine root causes.
- Identify issues requiring further investigation to management, or designated department and escalate accordingly.
- Follow up to ensure that appropriate action was taken to provide a resolution to the issue.
- Contact involved parties to respond to inquiries or to notify them of results found or any planned actions.
