Job Description:
The Credit Manager will oversee the entire credit-granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers. This role requires financial analysis skills, customer management, and strong organizational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Policy Development:
- Develop, implement, and monitor credit policies and procedures under company goals and financial regulations.
- Continuously review and update credit policies to align with changing market conditions and company objectives.
- Credit Risk Assessment:
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of customers using financial analysis, credit scores, and other risk assessment tools such as D&B, Credit Risk Monitoring, Experian
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information to make informed credit decisions.
- Establish credit limits and payment terms for customers based on risk assessments.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Liaise with sales teams and customers to manage credit limits, resolve disputes, and negotiate terms when necessary.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with key clients to foster long-term business partnerships.
- Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare regular reports on credit status, overdue accounts, and key metrics such as DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and bad debt levels.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, credit regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors on credit-related matters.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of credit analysts or assistants, guiding credit evaluation processes and customer communication.
- Conduct performance reviews and support the team’s professional development.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Credit Executive, CFA) is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Credit Manager or in a similar role within a financial institution or large corporation. - Strong knowledge of credit risk management, financial analysis, and industry-specific regulations.
- Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Familiarity with credit scoring systems and risk assessment tools.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
- Experience with international credit and multi-currency accounts is an asset.
