QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field
- Five (5) years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Experience in tube or metal fabrication industry highly preferred.
- Successful completion of a physical, drug screen and background check

Job Description
Summary/Objectives: The manufacturing engineer position works with launch and production teams on new program, process or part integration into the production value stream to ensure an efficient, robust and reliable manufacturing process is established and maintained throughout the product life span.
Post Launch activities include working with production value streams to develop process improvements for efficiency, effectiveness, ergonomics, safety, and part quality.
Leads process analysis to ensure sufficient machine, manpower, facility and material resources are allocated to establish and maintain stable processes
The future path includes likely replacement of Lead Tooling and Design Engineer in North Carolina.
Champion the migration of tool building techniques from traditional subtractive machining to CNC Laser cutting, 3-D printing and other additive manufacturing techniques over the next 2-4 years.
Lead the march toward automation, technology, robotics and cobots in future process development to increase capacities, efficiency and manufacturing repeatability.
Essential Functions:
- Follow all new launch parts through APQP Phase into production working with the production team in the development of the process design. Develop set up instructions as needed to optimize an efficient process flow and to reduce process variability and improve process capability.
- Drive standardized work, Kaizen, 5-S and other lean manufacturing initiatives
- Establish efficient workflows for cell manufacturing. Assist in the launch of new cell manufacturing processes. Validate process meets or exceeds quoted. Train employees on the process established and provide goals for each stage of the cell manufacturing process.
- Provide reporting to monitor that processes are continually meeting objectives. Develop action plans for recovery when process fails to meet objectives.
- Identify inefficient processes and manage process improvements. Document and report final improvements to management.
- Assist in corrective action activities as required.
- Research and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency. Ability to analyze historical data to identify areas for optimization, efficiency, and cost savings through process, hardware, equipment, or technology improvements.
- Recommend and lead automation programs for process improvements.
- Assist maintenance in resolving equipment malfunctions, troubleshoot process problems, and organize and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
- Create Manufacturing Key Performance Indicators and reporting metrics to document results of improvements
- Manage and meet important or crucial milestones and deadlines.
- Communicate with other departments as necessary.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Adhere to all company rules and policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position has no supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department. Future supervisory responsibilities are possible
WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
